Genuinely hate it when people say this kind of thing but if it wasnt for Washington he would be ranked 109.

And those 10 ten pointers help quite a lot for just being highly ranked. Dan keeps those 500 Washington points through until August or so. So he could actually pre defend them and maintain or keep his ranking.

quite a stark picture.
Yes, stark re the proportion of his points from Washington, and thus his relative performance the rest of the year.
I wouldn't at all be describing these 10 mandatory 10 pointers as help, considering all DEs get at least these points, and even if you took these total 100 points purely off Dan he would still be WR 51 as against his actual WR 45. What would very much help is actually winning more matches at mandatories rather than just pick up the 10 points.

Good points and well made. Agree re winning, Dan always seems to get people writing how well he played, but his results dont follow, currently. For over 12 months really, apart from Washington. Interestingly, no grass on the list, so maybe he is one Brit who can use the grass season to get points this year.
His race position, is 200 plus - early days though.
Just realised that Evo is about to see a real collapse in his ranking, as Washington falls off in the next couple of weeks. He could drop down over 100 places to the 160's.
I am assuming he will have the US Open entry covered ok, but then is going to have to work really hard to get back to the top 100 for the AO.
Presumably we will see him in lots of post US Open challengers, or post Davis Cup at least as he tries to build back.
Hate to say this but it wouldn't surprise me if he's planning to call time on his career after the Games. He's already twice had to drop back down from the tour into the futures and challengers, firstly through injury and then because of the drugs ban and I have my doubts as to whether he'd want to do it again.
My feeling about Dan has always been that he's someone who appreciates the value of a dollar
No matter how much he's racked up
And I don't think he has many obvious natural avenues open to him (might be wrong but I can't see him coaching, and I'm not sure he's the media type)
I was always convinced he'd come back after the drugs ban. And I think he'll carry on, because he enjoys it and because it's his best way to earn decent money at the moment.

Totally agree, this is what I would think as well (although didnt he do something at Wimbledon last year, or am I thinking of someone else?). And he wrote an article in the press that was mentioned in another thread. I would think he would be a good commentary expert analyst type, in terms of insight, as his whole game has had to be based on working out opponents and finding a way to beat them.
But for now, agreed he will try and fight back to the top and take pride in doing so.
