Dan Evans

Hi - where is Dan Evans? Have been away but can't find him on in the entry forms. Sorry if duplicating an other thread!

He played in Edinburgh Futures this week, lost in the 2nd round. Will probably play in Newcastle next week

He isn't down on the entries list for Newcastle, so unless he has a wild card. . .

I wonder if he decided not to enter Newcastle qualifying or ask for a main draw WC in order to make sure he can get away in time for Challenger qualifying for next week.

This is an old, old thread, but rather than start another one, here's an interesting article in the Telegraph that those of you not on Twitter might not have come across yet:

Very good piece of work, that. Don't think I've seen anything by her before ... or have I just not noticed? At any rate, hope she keeps covering GB tennis.

LOL I think he might have been - just! In fact, it was the youngest of 5 "Dan Evans" threads that came up when I did a search in order to avoid starting a new thread just for one article, though the search here is so bad that there may well be more recent ones too.

I'd only had time to read part of the article when I posted it. Having now read the rest, I agree with others here, it's a very good piece of work - well-researched and balanced. It would be interesting to know why, when much of the groundwork was clearly done at the start of the year, the Telegraph have only just published it. I'd have thought they'd either have published it then, after one of his good runs earlier in the year or saved it for grass season time. I wonder if the author (a New York-based freelance features writer for the Telegraph Magazine, British Vogue and the Guardian, according to linkedin, so it looks like tennis isn't her usual field) has been trying to get it accepted for a while and has only just succeeded. If so, hopefully it'll encourage her to do more stuff like this!

Good article, i particularly like:

When you go down again and youre still around in the Futures its tough. Theres no atmosphere, its not the best place to be playing tennis.
