It seems that we've had a couple of specific threads for certain players but that a general thread might also be a good idea, so it's bit more all-encompassing.
Anyway, best wishes to Sam Murray who's just had her wrist operation today, I believe. Hoping you have a speedy recovery and enjoy a bit of down-time

Jade's been in a similar position to Sam, unable to play at the level she's capable of due to a long term injury. Jade is one of the nicest British girls on the circuit, and I sincerely hope she finds the remedy to this back problem ASAP.
The problem with both Jade and Sam was that they kept trying to play through it, rather than just getting it fixed in the first place, which caused them a few months of poor form this year, and ultimately a longer wait to get back on court.
If you look at our top 10 it's not exactly a clean bill of health:-
Heather - fit
Jo - just back from injury (ankle?)
Naomi - picked up some kind of niggle
Laura - wrist
Tara - just back from shoulder surgery
Sam - undergoing wrist surgery
Katy - out with illness
Emily - fit
Amanda - just back from hip surgery
Katie - fit
I'd just been thinking that 40% of what would probably fit and well be the GB top 10 ( Laura, Sam, Lisa and Jade ) are currently out of action.
But yes, Paul, looking at that rundown of the general position with the current top 10 - eeks. And, if you count Katy as out, although hopefully much more short term, that would be 50% of the ( all fit and well ) top10 ( with Lisa and Jade in place of Amanda and Katie ) with most of the rest having / had recent issues.
May they collectively have a real turn of fortune.
I think the problem is a lot of our players aren't well supported financially, so when they get a niggle the temptation is huge just to try and keep playing, otherwise no money coming in/ ranking takes a big hit.
I remember Georgie Stoop admitting to me that she kept playing through pain when she knew her foot was a problem. Her form was great and she didn't want to stop as she was on a roll. But it ended in a nightmare with Georgie having to retire prematurely.
I don't know if anyone has news of Jade and her injury, but she's tweeting that she's currently doing an on-line course (nothing to do with tennis) . . . .
