RE: Injuries - and good luck wishes

And Lisa wins her first match back in the British Tour.  It took her 3 sets against a qualifier but got to start somewhere.  Hope her shoulder feels good after live action.

Evan Hoyt has recently put up the latest installment in his blog which deals with the horrible back injury he's had all this year, the progress, how the NTC has been so involved etc. etc.

(there's part 1 and 2 over on the right if you haven't read them).

Do hope that the fracture is truly healed and that he can now train and play and compete and enjoy tennis . . . All the best, Evan.

Some info from Jade about her rehab programme which sounds quite gruelling and the state of her back, which doesn't sound brill but she seems very positive and still highly motivated to get it cured and back on track:

Also, good news, fingers crossed, from Lisa:

Peace out 2014!!It's been a hell of a testing year, surgery number 2, becoming unranked, working 2 jobs and training!

Buuuut got my first competition properly back in a year and half on Friday and I literally can't wait!shoulder may not be perfect and I may Not have the fastest serve in the world, but I feel very lucky that iv managed to get myself back to the point that I can try compete again. Literally can't fricking wait to get back on tour and make 2015 a slightly more successful and less frustrating year than 2014!!

Practically brings tears to your eyes - go, Lisa, I wish you the VERY best 2015 !

Josh Sapwell (one of my little faves, or not so little really . . .) has let people know that he's still working on problems with his arm, but hopes to be playing tournaments next month or so.

It's been a LONG road with injury for Josh . . .

I suspect this has been brought up in another thread, but I've not seen any chat about it.

It's regarding Katie Boulter's current status. As far as I'm aware she hasn't played any tournaments basically all year, and considering she usually plays week in week out, it's starting to worry me that she has sustained quite a serious injury. Anyone have any information about her ?

Also I see from her bio that Nigel Sears is listed as one of her coaches, never knew about that !

I thought she was still getting coached by Jeremy Bates...

No ideas on Katie or Eleanor Dean.

It actually says both Bates and Sears on her bio, so maybe Nigel is just being used in more of a consultancy role.

As for Eleanor given her horrific injury history without knowing the full details it's a big worry as well. But given KB has never in the past had many problems with injuries, being out for more than 3 months is very concerning.

Katie Boulter retired from her opening qualifying match in Week 2 Plantation 25K after one set, and didn't appear in Daytona Beach the following week, although on the acceptance list, and I haven't otherwise heard anything about her.

She was part of the Florida training camp interspersed with 25K Q group ( with apparently training the main focus ), comprising of Katy D, Katie B, Harriet and Izzy.

Now I'm no expert, but focussing more on training and less on competive matches I would have thought could cause issues. Katy D actually tweeted something along the lines of it being a strange experience.

Hopefully whatever happened to Katie B in Plantation is not because of this 'interesting' schedule and that she will be back playing soon.

Katie is still entering tournaments|(but withdrawing), unlike Eleanor so cannot be too far away from returning.

Good to hear. It is essential that Katie is back playing asap.

By the way, I believe somone has her as GB no 4 in the year-end predictions.
