An excellent light on how to run a top event. (I've done the 'hosting a foreign player' thing and it's fun, makes new friends, gives you an added interest in the tournament - net, net, a really good idea that benefits everyone, never understood why it's not more common).
Never heard of Pro-Am - sounds excellent. Makes complete sense.
And, to all the players, read the 'why not to stay in 10ks' ! From the horse's mouth.
Personally I don't follow the women's side so I wouldn't know what the LTA schedule is (it does seem as though there are more womens GB 25k's although are they just the equivalent of mens 15ks?!) - Anyway my point is that the last paragraph really summarises why we need more UK Challenger events (and equivalent on the womens side)
Lots of juniors should be reading that blog - they will learn a lot from it especially transitioning to the senior game. As juniors, they can get away with winning by simply putting the ball back into play and let the more aggressive player make the errors and give them cheap points.
Lots of tournament directors (especially in Europe - and UK in particular) should be reading that blog - they will learn how to organise these events and help not only the players but also generate wider interest and spread the uptake of tennis in communities.
Good good. After some tough events nice to throw in a 'weaker' event to get some bigger points. If things keep on going well I see Naomi comfortably top 300 before grass. All things going well.
