Trump stoked it, fanned the flames and gave the people who invaded the Capitol all the authority they needed. And people , ie his supporters give him all the support he needs to make him feel vindicated in return.
And yet people keep voting for them and effectively make it all right to behave like this; like people voted Trump and in essence gave him the vindication when he effectively created a mini coup.
And saying the other lot are unelectable is not really any defence , IMO. You have to start with how you want people to behave or at the very least truly hold them to account.
I beg your pardon????
6th January 2021, thats what Id call it. Given he was no longer the effective president
It was appalling but yes I'd say "mini coup" is rather OTT. To me anyway there never really felt remotely the dangers then or thereafter that one American poster infamously kept posting about and telling some of us that we hadn't got a clue.

Partly why I used the word Mini!
nonetheless Id refer you to the excellent documentary recently aired, 4 hours at the Capitol (or some such) and let you decide what it was!

I was not making any reference to the politics - just you taking my name in vain

I see now that Rishi Sunak and his wife had Green Cards in the USA during the early part of his term as Chancellor. A Green Card is only issued to people who consider the USA to be their permanent home.
Again, they have done nothing illegal and it is the system that needs to be changed. But the optics are getting worse by the day and the rumours that Nş10 is feeding the fire because Sunak is seen as a rival to Johnson paints an even worse picture of the government's internal dynamic.

Long distance geographic moves are associated with having a privileged class background. Sunak and his wife have wealth that most of the UKs population cant even begin to dream of. Social mobility in the UK has never been so low and our child poverty rate is woeful compared to many other Western European nations.
Sunak is not alone, many of the UKs politicians are out of touch with the people they represent. 7% of children attend private school, 48% of conservatives, 17% of Lab and 14% of Lib Dems politicians did. Cameron was the 19th of 54 prime ministers to have attended Eton. I know Gramma Schools had their issues (classifying children at the age of 11), but they did increase the number of politicians from more modest backgrounds (eg Thatcher, Brown, Major and Starmer) and encouraged social mobility.
I dont find politics hugely interesting nor do I understand Economics, but is it clear that the gap between the top of society and everyone else has still not been bridged. Interesting article from the Sutton trust below.
You're right. I thought he was my age which would've meant he missed out on it being grammar as Surrey got rid of almost all their grammars in and around 76. Got a few in Sutton but that's it now.
Unless Starmer changes course on Womens righrs he's got no chance of being PM. Please explain to me why any woman wpuld want to vote for this absolute shower. twitter.com/ripx4nutmeg%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1442783035389325313%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=

E69 you are obviously younger than I thought - I had assumed 69 was your age LOL. Indie and I are both correct and Starmers father was a tool maker and his mother a nurse (according to numerous sources I have cross referenced ).
