Top 500

Awesome calculations there, Indy

Hopefully a bit more awesome ( well err more correct ) in my edited version.

I missed out in particular Stuart, but also George and Hamish, from my initial tables above, largely because I'd really originally just been focusing on these that could make top 500 at 02/12.

So Ali G has blown it?

At least for the 2nd Dec week?

Aye ( and drops 15 points on 9th Dec )

Henry S in the ATP Challenger 50 Manzanillo is our remaining realistic possible 20th man for 2nd Dec.

Unfortunately no sign of Henry in the Manzanillo draw.

And so it will go on past 2nd Dec.

A much better week for Emile in Australia M25, a final place, and 20 for 9th Dec, anyone?

Or might it now be next year at the earliest?

Another decent run for Emile but lost in the SF in Aus so 'just' onto 72 points at 09/12.

So we will remain with 19 in the top 500 and these are all guaranteed to remain there for the rest of the year.

Current live ranked #500 is on 76 points.

GB 09/12 rankings.

20. Henry S  74
21. Stuart P  72
22. Emile H  72
23. Liam B  67

Of these, only Stuart is showing as having entries over the next few weeks, two Egypt M15s in weeks beginning 02/12 and 09/12, to count in the 16/12 and 23/12 rankings respectively. He has 1 point due off on 23/12.

Got to be a decent chance that Stuart can cobble together the required points, with the next hope that the WR 500 level drops back to allow Henry to sneak in.

A fit and functioning Liam should no doubt leap back well into the top 500 in the new year but of course top 500 players will also be dropping points.

Ryan Peniston will get there if he wins tomorrow and plays again next week.
Henry Searle is down to play a challenger again next week. A win would be enough.
Ali Gray has points to defend, but a victory this week would be sufficient.
Stu Parker is down for a 15k next week. If he goes deep he could make it.
Emily Hudd is still going in a rain impacted Australia for the next couple of weeks and could easily pick up enough points.

Max Basing is playing this week and has an outside chance.

If would have happened earlier as I expected Henry Searle and Ali Gray to pick up a win, but managed to lose several weeks on the run in round 1.

 Ryan's come through for you

But I'm afraid the title of 'Eternal Optimist' still sticks biggrin

We're still one short and the 'very shortly' prediction is dragging out....

But far better to go through life as Mr. Optimist than the doom-and-gloom guy

Emile has Indonesia M15 entries in weeks beginning 16/12 and 23/12 ( weeks 51 and 52 ).

So if Stuart doesn't get across the top 500 line next week, focus would then move to Emile for the last 2 weeks of the year, assuming he stays entered.

Still only 19 players in the top 500

Although three/four are sitting just outside.......

Henry is 508, Stuart is 512, Emile is 524 and Liam 545

Emile losing round one today, to a wildcard, doesnt help in the race for 20. Disappointing as Emile has made good progress, generally, this season. Hes currently in action again week 52, lets hope hes been able to get some decent practice in over the next week.

Emile loses his QF in Bali, so we will go into 2025 with:

19 men in the top 500, 7 in the top 250
13 women in the top 500, 8 in the top 250

GB men :
In week 2 in 2025 Arthur Fery is due to drop 22 points which without any replacement will drop him out of the top 500 and nearer WR 600 than WR 500 ( he is though on the Nottingham Challenger list for that week so good to see him due in action again and hopefully he can have a good week, indeed a good year ). Let's hope in general that a very good portion of the early year domestic tournament points go our players.

Emile is down for Bali again next week and that Nottingham Challenger in Week 2, and Stuart P and Henry S also remain close to the top 500. Liam will drop further before he climbs back up but clearly, fit and well, he would be well into the top 500.

GB women :
As stats in other threads have shown our top 10 ( more specifically top 9 ) women have had a very good year and been setting new high points for combined rankings. For the cumulative top 10 rankings, our women recently passed our men and are now indeed over 100 places in total ahead of them ( as per the Strongest Nation thread, 1595 to 1707 )

The above top 500 stat though shows the current lack of depth in our women further down. But encouragingly we do of course have quite a number of very good young prospects in our juniors plus such as Amelia Rajecki and hopefully the absent Katie Swan to give a real boost to initially our top 500 numbers and in time top 250 and beyond.

According to reports, Arthur went undefeated in the Indian Tennis League. The standard is mixed, but seeing him play regularly and healthy is great. As long as he stays fit, he should be well within the top 500 in no time.

Congrats to Henry Searle for his R1 win in the Nottingham Challenger which will take him into the top 500 for the first time.

However, as above, Arthur Fery will drop out of the top 500. Though yes, fit and well, he should certainly very comfortably get back in, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Net, net, we will still have 19 in the top 500 on 13/01, going into the 2 week Aus Open ranking break.

Two India M25 titles and Alastair Gray soars back into the top 500. His 93 points at 27/01 are equivalent to a ranking in the 450s in the 13/01 rankings.

BUT Aidan McHugh on 80 points is due to drop 2 points for the 27/01 rankings taking him down to 78 points which has been around the cross-over point lately. Indeed in the 13/01 rankings WR 500 is on 79 points with 78 points equivalent to WR 502 - 505. So this one looks like being a keep a watch over the Aus Open rankings fortnight to see if he will be the 20th Brit in the top 500. Starts the fortnight live ranked 494.

Confirmed in this week's new rankings ..... the '19' figure is hard to shift
