As requested:
John Garland is British tennis coach and was head/part of an Academy in Taiwan called, I believe, I Am Tennis.
He is now back in the UK, it seems, working for Over & In.
He is father of the top junior, Joanna Garland, who currently plays for Chinese Taipei
With thanks to Red Squirrel for this link (along with his/her apologies for Google translate)
Part of my strong belief for why the LTA should promote lower level tennis is that players go on to have children, instil the love of the game in them, coach them for free (really important), and those kids go on to have more success. Judy Murray is one of our best examples.
But just noting now that an increasing (it seems to me) number of ex-top tennis players now have kids who are are coming through.
Tracey Austin's son is going from strength to strength. As is Korda Junior. And Ruud junior.
And I see that Hana Mandlikova's 17 year-old daughter has just made her first 15k final.
(The Zverev parents also may well have been top level players if free travel had existed in Communist Russia).
About 8 years ago I played Colin Fleming's dad and brother at doubles, in the same team, but different pairings. They were both still playing in the central Scotland doubles league at Linlithgow where Colin grew up playing. I 100% agree with Coup, if you get the parent's to love the game it's logical they will get the kids to learn. The Quorn family cup is a great competition the LTA provide to encourage this type of thing...and the yellow ball comp is a very good standard.
Ok, so it's not British tennis but just to give a little 'hi' to 15 year-old Maelie Monfils, the little sister of Gael, who's into the MD of the 15k in France, as a lucky loser (I assume, although she lost her QR1 match).

The other lucky loser was the Q4 seed. I presume the other seven losing QR2 players didn't hang around ! Maeli has taken the main draw second seed spot, and has a qualifier waiting in both R1 and R2 of the main draw
Joy Gannon who later married Tony Mottram also played tennis at Wimbledon. Her sister Pearl Gannon also played at Wimbledon. Apart from his son continuing the Korda name in tennis, Petr Kordas' 2 daughters Nellie and Jessica are successful golfers and have played on the US Solheim Cup team.

I was also wondering if Jason and Josh goodall are related but can't find evidence they are! Anyone know if there is a link?
They may share the same surname but they don't appear to be related. Jason was born in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Josh in Basingstoke in Hampshire. Seem to come from different parts of the country and I don't think Josh is Jason's son.
There has been a few write ups on the subject of Michael Appleton and his daughter Emily. Mike Appleton was married to Julie Walpole. Her sister was Shelley Walpole who was a leading junior of the early 80's and twice played at Wimbledon.

I used to watch Mike play at Ilkley, often partnered Nick Brown there and I saw him play a great final against Scotlands Donald Watt one year. Loved the fast courts.
