Well done Harriet. Hope it doesn't turn out to be a Mel South top 100 tenure.
Just as an update, as of 25/07/22, Harriet is +3 to another new CH at WTA 84
She's a keeper
Great I did have concerns during the clay season that we would have another Katie OBrien type scenario, but fair play to the girl shes had a good grass season and got back into the 100 club and from memory, her only big points from last years hard court season were qualifying for the Canadian Open and beating Fernandez. So hopefully going to be there a bit longer!
Harriet is the only player in the top 100 never to have reached a WTA semifinal.
Although ranked lower Katie Boulter is in the same boat as not having reached a WTA semi final. When Emma won the 2021 US Open and Jo reached the 2016 Australian Open semi final neither of them had reached a WTA semi final at the time.
Nice that she's got the nomination, but just wondering how "Newcomer" is defined? After all, she's 26 and been playing at ITF level and on and off at WTA level for a number of years now.
