RE: Jack Draper

Mike Dickson (24th March) comments on Jack's prospects in Miami. He writes Jack was given a  main wild card as he seeks to restore what has been stalled progress over the past year. His opponent Mikhail Kukushkin is a former top 40 player.

He'll be a good addition to that competition, and that'll provide guaranteed (good) match play for him, so win-win.

It was mentioned on the Miami thread that he had Covid in January and may still be suffering the after effects

Jack is back on court practicing going by his Insta. Doesn't look like his retirement in Czech Republic was super serious

Interesting stat mentioned at Wimbledon final, the only people to take a set off Djokovic this fortnight were  Berretini and Jack.

Great that he took a set but I think you have to put it in context as it was round 1 and Djoko had had very little grass court prep and was just starting to get going.

Does anyone know what Jack's mum's maiden name was? I heard Sam Smith talk during Wimbledon about how she was a great junior who used to inflict heavy defeats on Sam in junior events but I can't remember any leading juniors named Nicky from that time.

piecing together Google snooping! Jack has an uncle called Jon Entract. Nicki is mentioned as playing in Dorset and there was a Dorset player who played top juniors called Nicki Entract (or Nicky Entract). If you google that name it comes up with all sorts of articles related to Jack Draper, so ergo I assume his Mum is Nicola Entract...

Sadly none of the articles I skim read mentioned Nicki Entract but I am pretty certain she will be Jacks Mum

Extract from an article originally published in 2008 in Surrey Life Magazine that came up on a Google search for Nicola Entract. More or less confirms JonH's research.

"A former Surrey tennis captain Before he turned to the business of running British tennis, (Roger) Draper was an international sportsman himself, playing rugby league and tennis. He was part of the Surrey county cup-winning team in 1996 and captained Surrey until 2002. He has lived in the county for more than ten years and now resides in Oxshott with his wife Nicky, a former British junior tennis champion who coaches at Parkside School in Cobham, and their sons, Ben, nine, and Jack, six."

Great Googling (I'd hate to have you as a stalker!), but Google will look for the words separately and together, so a search for "Nicky Entract" will find all articles that have both "Nicky Draper" and "Jon Entract". (It will likely also find Nicki Draper and John Entract, too)

ah - ha - however, I do still think that is who Mrs formerly Draper is though - quite a few other hints came up as well...maybe she reads the board and can unveil herself

I hadnt realised also that Jack has quite a modelling career as well, seems to be quite well liked by the camera (not that I am a good judge) from the various photos and articles
