I always think the horrible posts say more about the poster! Why go on someones fan page to post controversial comments?

Same can be said about the some of the quirky posts on this Message Board hmm

Yes, some are absolutely horrific
I've reported several of those too
I've also signed petitions for a change in the law
However, there's plenty of room for polite comment and, indeed, criticism, which is quite different

But one persons fair criticism is another's abuse.  My opinion is that forums are fine to post negative stuff as it is actually quite easy to avoid engaging or even knowing the stuff people are posting about you but when someone goes on a players (or anyone's) personal social media to directly target them, that crosses the line.

Indeed, I agree, up to a point (I think it's relatively easy to distinguish between fair criticism and abuse - the law is clear too, it's not just in the eye of the beholder)

But most of the reports of abusive comments I've seen haven't been on their personal social media but on twitter

So...when can we expect Emma to play again? Can't get my head around her schedule.

Emma is back in the UK. Seems to have ditched Cincinatti.

I just read that she didn't get a wildcard for Toronto or Cinci. Why won't she just do qualifying? A few straightforward wins wouldn't do her any harm, surely? Will we only see her next at the US Open?

I think that is the plan.

Certainly a very much quieter run up to the USO than in 2021 when she played 13 matches over the 3 weeks prior to the USO main draw. That worked not bad as a build up! - and I would have thought that she was rather stronger now.

3 weeks prior : 5 matches - Q + QF - ITF W100
2 weeks prior : 5 matches - RU - WTA 125
Week prior - 3 matches - Q for the USO MD

I do hope that she has no particular issues.

Perhaps she's just making  sure no issues arise. I suspect her wrists are still potentially problematic.  The  moon ball shots that she was using in Uk and  some quite loopy ones  in Washington   at times   possibly suggests  her previous hard hitting needing to be tempered?  Just I guess really, I  don't know  at all the  mechanics of  tennis and tennis strokes.    Anyway, she know how she needs to train now and hopefully she will be busy doing that.

Looks like Emma will focus on the Asian swing, post US Open. Assuming any points picked up in the US Open will be a bonus. Seems a sensible choice, especially as she is so popular in that part of the world and hasnt really capitalised on it yet.

She has her name down for both the WTA500 Korea Open starting on the 16th and the WTA1000 China Open starting on 25th. The last I saw she was about 7 out of the main draw for Korea.

Lets hope for a lack of hubris and she plays qualies if necessary.

I think she has been trying to balance training and match play while improving her ranking and avoiding undoing the repairs she had on her wrists and ankle this year. Unfortunately she didn't get her preparation quite right for the US Open, which she feely admitted afterwards.

She has a wild card for Seoul, and has made main draw cut for Beijing so no need for qualifying.
