RE: Emma Raducanu

Yes, discussed a fair bit on the Aus Open singles thread.

Questionable decision making by Emma but also by Andy. There is a view that both Andy and Emma were at 'fault' and that it was a bit of a peculiar / potentially problematic offer and acceptance.

That there were better, less headline, players ( who would have been made up ) that Andy could have gone for?

Thanks, I've found it now - I had missed it as the thread is moving pretty quickly

It's been interesting to see the posts. I think that I was a little confused at here initial comment, like they weren't being civil to one another?? I do see now that it was a bad choice and agreement all around, but can see why Andy wanted a big name for his swansong.

I do still think some of her decisions are questionable though, and hope that having at least a trainer now will help her.

I think my main comment when I reinvigorated it yesterday wasnt so much who was right or wrong...we discussed that a lot before.

It was more a slightly whimsical comment that Emma gave the impression that she thought she and Andy were all good and summarised that by saying they pass in the corridor and say hello...and my comment was if that is good, I hate to think what bad looks like!

Which may have been unfair but feels like they maybe haven't built the bridges she thinks or hopes they have, regardless of who was at fault etc

Andy is busy with Novak, i'm not sure he or Emma currently has the time to do anything else together other than exchange pleasantries in passing.

Nick Cavaday stands down as Emma's coach for health reasons

That is a shame - wonder what next?

The Times have a very revealing graph showing ranking to coach. Emma had success with Andrew and Nick. Went down with sacks and Tursonov but held a steady ranking with Beltz. Says in the article she is in no hurry to appoint another coach and continues to travel with her physio.

Emma and ELO - British number one? World number 13?

Is this correct? After Raducanus former coach Nick Cavaday stepped down following the Australian Open, she linked up with Croatian Roman Kelecic in Abu Dhabi.

Yes, not sure if he's with her in Doha as well.

Just slightly strange that Emma has been practically erased from the NTC

There are large photos up of many of the players, as standalone billboard sort of posters, with their names

And Emma's used to be in pride of place outside the main doors

Now she's nowhere

There's Jack and Katie at the entrance

And then down the side of the buildings, there's Olivia, and Alfie and Lucy, and Henry Patten, and quite a lot of other players

But no sign of Emma.........

That seems really odd, why would they do that?

I guess they might say it's only photos of the #1 players in every discipline - it's possible that if I'd noted them all down, it's just doubles #1s, singles #1s, wheelchair #1s, quad #1s etc - I'm not A1 sure - it seemed to me like a LOT of billboard posters but it's true that there are quite a lot of categories

BUT she's a grand slam winner, and a key attraction of GB tennis, and she was out there in pride of place even when, I think, she wasn't #1

Whichever way you cut and dice it, it certainly looked a bit strange to me.....

Yes it is odd but as you say maybe they will continuously update them. Was Mika or Charlie spotted as top-voted junior No1s? Or not because they don't train at NTC?

Maybe she - or her "team" - has control over her image rights?

 Yes that could be true.

That would be very sad if that was the issue. But then there are arguably quite a number of sad things about her "team".
