Fran Jones

She has had a successful season - amazing start to it - and should be pleased with how she progressed. Here's to 2022

Yes the first half of the year was great. With seems some injury niggles and less higher profile matches and wins her season did rather drift away in the last few months.

As a whole though, very good progress and hopefully she can come out firing again early in 2022.

She's currently 3 out for Angers 125 main draw at the beginning of December. She doesnt appear to have entered qualifying there though.

I think she is injured or recovering from injury.
Must be focusing on defending those Aussie Open points if fit.

Fran ended 2021 as GB#5.

So ladies and gentlemen, may I present our Clay Queen. With 72% of her points coming from the dirt, no-one (male or female) favours it more.  Indeed, such is the lack clay points amongst the other GB women in the Top10, Fran's 346 points from the dirt accounts for 61% of total clay court points the Top10 have in their counting tournanments. Fran's counting tournaments cover 13 countries, the most amongst the Top10 and along with Naiktha, she was the only player to have points counting from a South American tournament. Her 3 titles (2 from 2019, 1 from 2021) places her in a tie for first with Heather and Katie S.

Currently showing as entered week of 11/7. Not sure if that is 6 months yet, would imagine she'll wait until the 6 months is up so she can use a PR

When Fran can return with a PR depends on whether Australian Open qualifying is treated as a separate event to the main draw, and, if not, whether the count starts on the last day of the AO or the day after. She can return to competition with a PR in the calendar week in which she reaches 26 weeks from the last day of the last event she played.

By my calculations, 26 weeks from the
end of qualifying is 15 July, which falls in week of 11 July
End of the main draw is Sunday 31 July.

Reupping this - does anyone have any news on Fran? I have no idea what the injury is or the prognosis but it's increasingly worrying.

I have no idea, sorry, LordB

But given she has had three lots of wrist surgery already, to try and correct the damage that playing tennis does to her because of the condition she suffers from, my assumption is that it is unfortunately more of the same

But, I stress, that's purely an assumption
