This is the first week of Rome. Cam, Billy and Harriet were in Qualifying for the second ATP/WTA1000 tournament on clay in 2025.

No-one was successful so we had just the five in the Main Draw - Jacob, Jack, Sonay, Emma and Katie B. Then Cam gets an LL spot!

 

Katie B lost to Pavlyuchenkova in the first round however Sonay beat Birrel, Cam beat O'Connell, Emma beat Joint, Jacob beat Fognini

and Jack as a seed was given a bye to reach the second round.

 

Please follow their next matches ( and also those of the doubles players ) on the relevant threads and hopefully someone

will feature in next week's ''friday feeling ''

Thanks DF- just to note, its the third ATP 1000 on clay this season, Monte Carlo being the other; WTA only had two. Second joint one, maybe that is what you meant. Doesnt matter, anyway, haha.

My laptop was so temperamental tonight. It did not want to paste what I wanted it to.smile It left out words, changed the font on some lines

highlighted others so I have been correcting and recorrecting but when I hit the submit button I was never sure what to find. So frustrating!

Hannah is our sole surviving representative in the J500 ( the most important of junior tournaments) in Milan

in the run up to the French Open. She is in the QF in singles and doubles.

 

We had six in French Open Qualifying - Billy Harris, Jan Choinski, Dan Evans, Harriet Dart, Fran Jones and

Heather Watson. Fran and Dan made it to the second round then Fran made the FQR which will be played tomorrow

as they lost time due to the weather.

 

Fran will be playing Anastasia Sobolieva (who beat Harriet) in order to join Jack Draper, Jacob Fearnley,

Cameron Norrie, Katie Boulter, Emma Raducanu, Sonay Kartel and Jodie Burrage who are already in the 2025

French Open draw. Six Britons were in the draw in 2024 and none made it to the second round, the third time

this has happened this century. Let's hope for better this year.

 

Also perhaps you can answer the question JonH poses . . . . . . How many British main draw wins will we get at the

2025 French Open ? If you have not already tried why not give it a go. Remember to say your number to win. The

deadline for your vote is Saturday 7:46 am.

                Turkey is behind schedule because of the weather

                 It is the first week of the French Open 2025. On Monday Jodie, using her Special Ranking, fell to Collins, Emma beat Wang,

Jacob on his debut beat Wawrinka and Katie B, getting her first win in RG, beat Monnet. On Tuesday Cam beat Medvedev the no 11 seed

in an intense five setter, Sonay, on her main draw debut, beat Andreeva the elder sister and Jack beat Bellucci. We had six into the second

round! smile

                On Wednesday Emma fell to Swiatek. the fifth seed and defending champion. On Thursday Sonay fell to Bouzkova, Cam beat

Gomez ,the lucky loser, Katie B fell to Keys the seventh seed, Jacob beat Humbert and Jack beat Monfils. So three men into the third round.smile

            Mike Ceban, Brooke Black and Flora Johnson are hoping to qualify for 2025 Junior Roland-Garros by winning two matches. Mark and

Brooke won on Thursday so only need one more win. Their goal is to join Oliver Bonding, Hannah Klugman and Allegra Korpanec-Davies in the main draw.
