Naomi Osaka

"So Naomi and her team need to deal with that and focus on how and when she will be in a position to resume her tennis career, assuming she wants to".

Maybe she'll do a Kournikova/Bouchard and co move? Head more towards either modeling or some other form of woman's rights/mental health activism.

I know: but Indiana noted my analogy was OTT, but didn't consider it noteworthy that the tax mention was also an OTT analogy. I was sulking.

It's obviously just me, but I think it would be a shame that we - the tennis watching public - be denied the enjoyment of watching her play tennis because she felt unable to continue doing the irrelevant (to tennis watchers) interviews. I watch tennis for the tennis, not for the verbal sparring that follows thereafter, and I would feel cheated if denied the chance to watch that tennis because of the media's rapacious need for sacrifice.

Definitely entitled to your opinion Christ, even if it is completely the opposite of what is actually happening

It will be interesting to see if they do let her avoid interviews, whether she will play on any surface other than hard or whether she'll be looking for another reason to avoid tournaments she can't win.

I have it once removed from a Brit female player that Naomi is by far the most introverted player on the tour, I think that's pretty obvious but whether people think I'm being harsh saying she isn't the brightest, it's clear to me that she is prime material for being manipulated and exploited be it because she isn't that bright or she is incredibly naive or just immature Her sister seems to have her head screwed on a bit better, not sure if she is part of Naomis 'entourage' but if she isn't she needs to get involved. otherwise Naomi may find herself isolated from the people who genuinely do have her best interests at heart.

Nobody forces her to play, she accepts the cons as long as the pros when she decides to play. It is perfectly allowed to decide to not play tournaments, especially with the current global pandemic, she'll lose points, money and image with her sponsors for doing so, so easier to invent baloney excuses.

... though her sister did drop Naomi in it a bit, though maybe just by being too honest and not being given the script.

Never thought that Christ himself would ever be duped into the act that is the "cancel/woke" culture these days.

I don't have a capital c, but the other chap was pretty much the definition of a bleeding heart liberal.

I think Naomi (and the public and the press) have to accept its OK to be an introvert and a professional sports person. IMO like many other introverts in an extroverts world, Naomi will have to learn coping strategies in order to fulfil the requirements of the job. It would be a pity for her to stop playing.

I found this TED talk by Susan Cain is very interesting
