It is the Austrian Open this week. Lucy Shuker plays in the womens, and is through to the last 8 via a bye.

In the quad event, Andy Lapthorne and Greg Slade are playing and drawn to play each other in the last 8, and playing as partners in the doubles (hopefully as a prelude for the paralympics in 4 weeks time)

Mens singles - 48 draw - Hewett, Reid, Bartram and Ward from GB
Mens doubles - 20 pairs - Hewett/Reid, Bartram/Ward

Womens singles - 32 draw - Shuker, Breakwell
Womens doubles - 13 pairs - Shuker/Breakwell

Quad singles - 16 draw - Lapthorne, Slade
Quad doubles - 6 pairs - Lapthorne/Slade

Not sure if any more pairs will join the doubles field as they are all slightly under quota.

This will be the final total of doubles pairs. At the Paralympics you have to be playing singles to play doubles, so the number of doubles teams will vary. There are additional Bipartite Commission places in singles awarded by the ITF/IPC, and many go to countries with an odd number of singles players to increase the number of doubles pairs.

- when does the draw for the paralympics tennis take place? Event looks like it starts 30th, so this time next week?

Tuesday at 10:00 UK time. Event starts Friday 30th.

If the seedings come to fruition, we can look to Alfie (top seed mens singles), Alfie and Gordon (top seeds mens doubles ) and Andy and Greg (second seeds quad doubles) challenging for medals; Andy is 4th seed quad singles and Gordon 5th in the mens singles and also have decent shouts at a podium.

It's going to be a great event. Good ticket sales, some good publicity and am sure the tennis will be great. Hopefully Channel 4 does a better job than the Beeb.

Alfie slips down to second place in the rankings with his loss in the gold medal match in Paris. Not sure if the two will play again before the Tour finals in November in Netherlands.
