2024 ITF Wheelchair Tour

In Bolton (not as exotic as Rio), Andy Lapthorne beat Greg Slade in the quad singles, although Greg did put up a decent fight.

Ben Bartram lost his mens singles QF.

Lucy Shuker is playing her womens singles QF currently to see if she can join Andy at the QF stage. No one else left in.

Doubles later today, as normal.

As well as Andy into the quad singles final, Andy and Greg make the quad doubles and Lucy and Cornelia the womens doubles.

Good luck to them all in tomorrows finals.

And titles abound! Andy took the quad singles albeit by a walkover; he also won the quad doubles with Greg; and Lucy and Cornelia took the womens doubles title!

Well done all

The Wheelchair Tour moves onto the ITF Series 1 event in Rome, Georgia this week - expect that the top players will largely be playing in this. Due to start tomorrow, hopefully the draws will be out this evening. Event runs to March 2nd

The event is then followed closely by the Super Series event, the Cajun Classic, in Baton Rouge. That starts on March 5th. Super Series events are typically 32 draw fields for mens , 24 for womens and quad singles; the Cajun Classic also has boys and girls events. With deeper fields, they are every bit as competitive as the 4 majors (slams) and the points offered for the Super Series events are pretty close to the Slams, so they are prestigious and important for rankings etc.

Alfie, Lucy, Cornelia and Andy all play singles today.

In doubles, Lucy and Cornelia play (together), Andy and Greg have a bye (as a pair) , and Andrew Penney is in the mens. Alfie not playing doubles here. Presumably he and Gordon will join up in the super series Cajun Classic next week.

And in the doubles, just Andy and Greg left now.

So we have Alfie and Andy in respective singles quarters and Andy/Greg in quad doubles last 4, albeit with a bye.

Andy is in the semis of the quad singles already and his quad doubles with Greg Slade is coming later today
