QF James Story [1] v Alfie King (16yo) Oliver Hague [4] v Ben Gusic-Wan [7] (16yo) Christof Schaertlin Coffey [Q] v Matthew Rutter [3] Dylan Davies (16yo) v Tom Hands [2]
The women's draw looked quite exciting a couple of weeks ago with a mix of good juniors and US college players but most of those I was excited about withdrew. There have been a few retirements, including No1 seed Given Roach, leaving just 2 seeds left in the QF
Violeta Martinez v Flora Johnson (17yo) Hep Oluwadare [4] (16yo) v Amelie Brooks (17yo) Marelie Raath [Q] (17yo) v Nao Nishino Dani Hack [5] v Hollie Smart (15yo)
Violeta is an 20 year old American US College player who was based at Rafa's academy as a junior and is currently at University of Illinois. I do not know what her connection to GB is, if she has any, as I'm sure she hasn't come over here just to play our domestic scene. She hasn't any record of playing in any our domestic events before and has no association with any county on her profile.
Christof Schaertlin Coffey has appeared in a few recent events at the sharp end of the week- what is his back story and is he a name to look out for in ITF events going forwards ?

I'm assuming she signed in at Roehampton but is playing the Tour event (which is allowed as it's not an ITF event) and will turn up with a MD wildcard for R1 here
Lovely to see Grace Piper back on court in the UK - she's playing Given Roach in the final tomorrow (although Given has won all her matches in three sets)
In the men's, Matt Rutter plays Anthony Weingarten/Anthony Wright (result not up)
The Grade 1 Scottish grasscourt championships are taking place this week
Francesca Simpson was 2nd seed, but beaten in her first match by Heather Barlow
The SFs for the women are:
(1) Summer Yardley v Heidi Crncan
Heather Barlow v (4) Mia Wainwright
At the beautifully named Giffnock - I have visions of babbling brooks and heather blowing in the breeze. It is probably on the outskirts of some industrial estate!
