So, 10 players make the final. Vote will close in 48 hours from posting so circa 9.25am Thursday morning
4 - Heather Watson - for a timely reminder that she can still mix it with the top players. At the Abu Dhabi WTA 500, she reached the final in the doubles (with Linda Noskova), resulting in her rocketing up the doubles rankings. In singles at the same event, she came through qualifying and then won her first round match against the world number 16. She followed this up in the week after by reaching the final of the singles at the Roehampton W50, which will take her singles ranking up to around 125.
11. Julian Cash - for winning the doubles at the ATP250 in Delray Beach with Robert Galloway, defeating the much higher ranked number 1 seeds in the final. This is Julian's first title at this level and will give him a new career high.
15. Marnie Banks - for winning her first senior tournament at a W35 in Australia. She is also set to hit a new CH around 280 on Monday week.
16. Edie Griffiths - age 14 - for winning the J60 in Norway - her first singles final, her first singles title - and a very good one, given her age.
17. Katie Boulter - for her performances in winning at WTA 500 San Diego, including beating Haddad Maia WR 13. And for reaching a further CH. Her first WTA 500 title, she beat 5 top 50 players this week and reached a CH ranking of 27.
19. Jack Draper - for his performances at ATP 500 Acapulco, reaching the semis at time of posting, including beating Tommy Paul WR 14. And for reaching a further CH (live 37 at time of posting)
20. Amelia Rajecki - who has taken the number 1 spot at NC State in style, undefeated at national indoor championships where she was selected at position 1 in all tournament team , also beating former national number 1 Fiona Crawley. Rising to number 3 in division 1 national college rankings.
21. Marcus Willis - ATP Challenger 50 and 100 doubles titles ( the 100 being a career best title ), in Glasgow partnering Scott Duncan and in Lille partnering Christian Harrison respectively. Ends the month at a further new CH, live ranked 129.
22. Olivia Nicholls - for winning (with Olivia Gadecki of Australia) her second career WTA250 title in Austin TX.
23. Billy Harris - For reaching a new career high of either 181 or 182, depending on tomorrows results.
I decided to take Katie out of my voting equation, let's face it she is hot favourite here. But I am guessing most other people will vote for her. So it came down to Julian, Jack or Marcus for me - all did really good things, but I think Julian winning a 250 title in Delray just took it for me - but it could have been anyone tbf!
and it sort of is (whatever a definition of a country mile is, this must be close).
That said, we have 4 other players with votes now and second place ( I am trying to big it up) is of value, and 4 players are vying for that - to be honest the other 5 without votes at the moment could also easily get second, so 9 players are vying for it in actuality!)
