Oliver Bonding

Oliver appears not yet to have a dedicated thread.  I think he deserves one in recognition of the fact that he made what I presume was his debut on the Challenger circuit on Saturday at the tender age of 16 (he turns 17 tomorrow) courtesy of a qWC for the Lexus Trophy 125 event in Ilkley, where he lost in three sets (no disgrace) to the Chilean q4, Barrios, on Saturday.  No doubt his triumph in Brazil in March, at the so-called Banana Bowl (J500 Blumenau), was properly reported in the Juniors forum.  Since then he has also won the title at the 18U Lexus Junior National Championships, he should be in line for a qualies wild card at Wimbledon.  He's clearly one to watch.

Yes good shout SC and he seems to have a good game that could transition to senior tennis in the future. That banana bowl title was very impressive so he seems to like the clay too!

You're welcome, Nix.  I'm constantly amazed at the wealth of background facts & figures board members seem to be able to contribute which make these individual threads a veritable mine of information.

On a slightly different note, happy 17th birthday, Oliver!  smile  balloons_wave.gif

Poor Oliver had a wildcard into Wimbledon adult qualifiers, as GB U18 champion, but had to withdraw with a foot injury, apparently

Really bad luck

He's also just withdrawn from the J300 at Roehampton that starts tomorrow (still in the list for Junior Wimbly, at the moment)

I think Oliver was sat near to where I was watching JPJ while also watching Anton on another court on Monday at the Wimbledon Qualifying. The chap had one of those protective boots on.

What a shame for Oliver. Fingers crossed he's fit for Junior Wimbledon.

He must be:  he's on court even as I type, playing the Tunisian 14th seed, Reda Bennani!  wink

Sadly, lost in three, though (6-7(6-10) in the decider).  cry
