For anyone wanting to go down, it's open to the public, official
BUT you have to get a ticket. It's free. And can be done on site but has to be by the app. So you have to download the app if you don't have it. And be careful because when it says free, they add on a £10 charity donation - which you can take off - but you might not be paying attention and then you've paid a tenner to some charity without meaning to.
However, on the other hand, the stands and seating are all still up, because of the wheelchair event that's taking place too. Which makes it a lot more grand than the last time I was there. And comfortable seating for quite a few courts.
And the clubhouse is open, so you're right next to all the players, and team members etc, which is quite cool
Thanks for the heads up! I'm going there tomorrow which I'm very much looking forward to! Which app do I need to download? And is it the same venue as Wimbledon qualifying?
It's the LTA app (you can do it all there if you want, or get it done in advance)
And, yes, the same place as Wimbly qualis - the old Bank of England club, by the NTC, down that long Priory Lane
Xu v Jones is a potential real cracker
I like Emerson - she's a real slip of a girl, nothing to her, but she plays with lovely fluidity, lovely extension (although does go a little AWOL at time)
Charlie Robertson and Mark Ceban are definite musts too - extremely different game styles - and both hugely watchable
Exciting! And I can watch different matches at the same time with the intersection you mentioned (so I won't need eyes in the back of my head!) I will try and catch as many of the brits as I can and give a match report. Particularly intrigued by Mark as he has a lot on his CV already and never seen him live... its very impressive he has got this far at this level at such a young age :)
Yes, although they seem to be only using some courts for juniors, and some for the wheelchair event, I assume
So I'm not sure you'll get quite the same 'bunching' of courts
But, tbh, there's very good viewing nearly everywhere, and courts 3 and 5 (which have all the Brits) are back to back/alongside (unless I'm going mad) so you'll be able to see both of those at the same time, with no problem
Enjoy !
(The US girl, Iva Jovic, is a lovely player to watch, just as an aside - she's played Hannah several times before)

Try to take in some of the wheelchair tennis - it is fascinating to watch the strategy and talent and we have several Brits in action in what is the British Open (is the junior event also the British Open?)

Sounds good, yeah I've heard Iva's name on here a lot in tournaments so if I can I will try and catch some of her match too

Mimi Xu vs Emerson Jones was a great match and lived up to the hype. There were quite a few people i heard muttering how impressive the level was. I actually thought Mimi has a better game with more weapons and she really gets some pop on the ball. Her serve is very good too. She went a break up in the first set but unfortunately didn't manage to hold serve. Maybe had a slight dip in the third set and nearly broke back but couldn't take her chances. Overall though was very impressed and I'm sure she will have learnt a lot. Nothing to worry about and still has a lot of potential! Also bumped in to Mika Stojsavljevic and got a nice photo with her! She is so tall! They both played together in the doubles and were far too good for their opponents complimenting each other with Mika's ground strokes and Xu's great volleying. Looking forward to their doubles match tomorrow.
A lot of the matches were on at the same time so didn't really get a chance to watch any others but back again tomorrow to see some more!
