Not a fan but Djokovic winning gold on what must have been his last chance, given his age and recent operation, is pretty impressive and deserved. Well done - what a good time this would be to retire

 Absolutely

I'm not a fan of Djoko either, and not a fan of Olympic tennis in general

But I watched the end of each set here - and it was very moving - such a good level of tennis, such intensity, and Djoko wanting it SO much, for his country, more than his bank balance, or even for his title collection (I think)

And, yes, Nole - retirement????? biggrin

I am mostly a fan of Djokovic. He certainly is poster boy for healthy eating, lifestyle discipline, and avoidance of pharmaceuticals. No one else could have healed so fast and played so amazingly after what he has been though. I wanted him to win this one. Carlos will have plenty more chances.

I think its impossible, whatever one thinks of him, not to conclude hes the greatest player of all time in terms of achievements. Hats off to him for that.

"It definitely stands out as the biggest sporting achievement Ive had because of all the circumstances and all the things along the journey that I had to face, encounter, experience and go through," Djokovic added.

Hopefully he leaves the sport now.

Djokovic is assuredly the GOAT. Pity.

Not a fan at all, hate his politics, and his smug demeanour. It was also the only thing Murray had over him, but there is no denying his later part of his career has esclipsed Federer, Nadal, and of course everyone else. So it is a begrugging well done to him.

Murray still has TWO golds though.
