Sir Andy Murray August 2024 Player of the Month Award - Nominations thread

Nominations:

1. Andy Murray and Dan Evans - For bringing Andys fantastic career to an end in style. 2 great come from behind wins including that come back from 4-9 down in the first round match tiebreak. Fighting spirit that epitomised Andys entire career. Would have been nice for them to get a medal but Fritz and Paul was always likely to be a match too far. But Andys reaction after the 2 wins showed how much this meant to him.

2. Emma Raducanu - for staying strong and sticking with what she knew was best for her. She has already reached the quarters in Washington and her ranking is speeding up in the right direction. She will no longer need wildcards for most tournaments, and on top of which it's a pleasure to watch her play so tenaciously and with glimpses off her star qualities to thrill us,

3. George Loffhagen - for winning the title in Roehampton

She's 14 - in fact, she's one of those very lucky players who is born right at the start of January (3rd, I think) and so - tbh - is just as much 2009, as 2010. But will get all the benefits of being 2010. However, you take the breaks as you get them smile

Playing W35s may not be stretching for Sonay, but winning back to back tournaments has to be worthy of a mention. And great preparation for US Open qualifying.
