Boys & Girls: 2024 ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals, Chengdu, PR China, hard (Week 42)

Still think Mika has to grow into her body, and Emerson is more compact and plays smarter tennis. But Mika's development this year has been amazing.

First she will have to play for 3rd spot tomorrow.

Laura Samson won the other semi 6-1 5-7 6-3 so Mika plays Jeline (who beat Mimi at Roland Garros). The difference between third and fourth is 60 ranking points (480 vs 420) and $1,500 travel grant (on top of the $11,250 she has won already )

Girls 3rd-4th play-off

Mika Stojsavljevic v Jeline Vandromme (BEL)

Charlie takes the first set 6-2. No stream currently on ITF, so I guess rain has forced them indoors.

And Charlie went down, 6-2 in third.

He will also play a third place play off.

Well done to Charlie and Mika on a good week.

Rafael maintained his record against Charlie, so Charlie also is in a 3rd-4th place match tomorrow, against the player he lost to in the round robin

Boys SF

Rafael Jodar (ESP) d. Charlie Robertson 2-6 6-4 6-2

3rd-4th place play-off

Luca Preda (ROU) v Charlie Robertson

Charlie showed some temper today.
Throwing his rackets around a lot in the end of 2nd set and more or less whole 3rd set.

Not sure sure what to make of that, except I believe it is tough to compete your best with this much anger and frustration.

Mika lost her third place play off, straight sets. Emerson Jones took the girls title.

Onwards to Tokyo for Mika!

I've always thought those places matches are a bit of a nonsense - you just don't have the same motivation and it's difficult to get yourself pepped up
It'll hurt that Emerson won, though, given Mika was two points away from beating her and it was completely on her racket

Charlie won his 3rd v 4th place match

Won the first set and then the other lad retired

Well done to him (although I agree with Tennis observer, there's a big difference between a bit of vim and pep on the court and ridiculous am-dram)

And Mika has a wildcard into the MD of the WTA 500 !!!!

Was this related to her winning the set she just won when you posted this or just that it happened to get announced then?
